Educational Qualification 

 Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 01.08.2026):

Assistant Audit Officer (Central Cadre):

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor‟s Degree from arecognized University or Institute.

Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Cost 

& Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Page 15 of 132 Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.

During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the “Subordinate Audit/ Accounts Service Examination” in respective branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.

Assistant Audit Officer (State Cadre):

 Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor‟s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.

Proficiency in the Regional/official language of the State, i.e. ability to read, write, speak and understand the language with proficiency at matriculation level. Candidates must possess a certificate of proficiency in the Regional/official language of the State concerned at the level of Secondary School Examination from a recognised State/Central Board of Education.

Statistical Investigator Grade-II :

Bachelor degree in Statistics or Mathematics or Economics or 

Demography or Population Studies or Operation Research or Information Technology or Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Computer Technology or Computer Application or Data Science or Artificial Intelligence from a recognized University or recognized Institute.

All other Posts:

Bachelor‟s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

The candidates who have appeared in their final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification as on 01.08.2026.

Age Limit

As per SSC CGL Recruitment Official Notification 2026 notifications candidates age limit is

Salary 

Group B - 47,600/- to 1,51,100/- PM (Pay Level 8) & 

44,900/- to 1,42,400/- PM (Pay Level 7)

Group C - 35,400/- to 1,12,400/- PM (Pay Level 6) &

29,200/- to 92,300/- (Pay Level 5) & 

25,500/- to 81,100/- (Pay Level 4)


Selection process 

The selection process will be consist in the different stages to confirm the recruitment eligible and qualified candidates. The selection stages include - 

1. Computer Based Test  (Tier I & Tier Il)

2. Document Verification 

Tier I Computer Based Test 

A. General Intelligence and Reasoning - 25 questions and 50 marks

B. General Awareness - 25 questions and 50 marks

C. Quantitative Aptitude - 25 questions and 50 marks

D. English Comprehension - 25 questions and 50 marks

Total - 100 questions and 200 marks 


Time - 1 hour (Sectional timer: 15 min per section)
1 hour 20 min for scribe-eligible PwBD candidates

Tier-I consists of Objective Type / MCQ questions, set in English and Hindi (except English Comprehension). Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.


Tier II Computer Based Test 

Tier-II is conducted in Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III in separate shifts/days.

Paper I 

Section-I: Mathematical Abilities + Reasoning & General Intelligence - 30+ 30 = 60 questions and 180 marks 

Duration - Session-I: 2 hrs 15 min; Section-I: 1 hr timer

Section-II: Section-II: English Language & Comprehension + General Awareness - 45 + 25=70 questions and 210 marks 

Duration - 1 hour timer

Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test (qualifying, mandatory) - 20 questions and 60 marks

Duration - 15 min

Section-IV: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) (qualifying, mandatory)

Duration - Session - II 15 min 

Paper-II (JSO / Statistical Investigator only) - Statistics - 100 questions and 200 marks

Duration - 2 hours

Paper-III (AAO / AAcO only) - General Studies (Finance and Economics) - 100 questions and 200 marks

Duration - 2 hours

Negative Marking in Tier-II: 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, II, III of Paper-I; 0.50 marks in Paper-II and Paper-III. Section-III (CKT) and Section-IV (DEST) are qualifying in nature. Candidates will have to qualify all the sections of Paper-I separately. Higher standards of CKT and DEST have been fixed for specific posts (CSS, MEA, AFHQ, SFIO, CBIC, Postal etc.). 20 minutes compensatory time per hour is available for eligible PwBD candidates for writing.
